How to get this look

  • Step 1: Prep the hair.  Apply some Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Mousse to towel-dried hair, starting at the root and working it through to the lengths.  TOP TIP: to get even distribution of the mousse apply it to a vent brush and then comb it through the hair, rather than applying the mousse directly to the hair.  Then apply some Luxurious Volume Thickening Blow Dry Lotion to the hair, taking section by section and spraying it at the roots.  Dry the hair with a hairdryer, creating root lift around the front hairline with the help of a vent brush to lift the roots away from the scalp as you’re drying each section. Once the front is nearly dry, flip your head upside down and rough dry the rest of your hair.  Once dry, create a parting on one side of your head in line with the arch of your eyebrow.  TOP TIP: use the handle of a tail comb to ensure a straight, neat parting.  Imagine you’re wearing an Alice band from one ear to the other and take the hair behind that invisible line back and tie it off with a hair band or clip so it is kept out of the way.
  • Step 2: Style your hair.  Take a medium sized section from the section in front of the invisible Alice band line and starting at the root twist it just once around the heated barrel of a tong.  Hold it against the barrel for 3 seconds, release, and the root will have significant lift.  With two fingers acting like the shape of the tong barrel, wrap that section of hair around your fingers up to the scalp and secure with a hair sectioning clip (this is called a pin curl). Repeat the curling and pin curl process section by section until the hairline is completed.   Now, for the section which is behind the invisible Alice band line.  Section by section wrap the hair around the heated tong starting midway down the length of the hair to the tip (you don’t need to curl all the way to the root for this look).  Create pin curls with each section, using your fingers and securing with a hair sectioning clip.  Leave the pin curls in place for 20-30 minutes to set.
  • Step 3: Add the finishing touches.  Remove the clips from the pin curls.  Use a grooming brush to gently brush through all the curls to relax them, making sure to maintain the neat side parting.  Finish off with some Sheer Blonde Spun Gold Shape and Shine Balm.  Dab your fingers in the pot and then warm the product up in the palms of your hands.  Work your hands through the hair from root to tip, secure a Kirby grip behind the ear on the same side as your parting, and finally spritz the entire look with some Sheer Blonde Crystal Hold Hairspray.
