The Salon Blends Collection incorporates new technology which has not previously been available in the home hair colourants market. Each of the 5 shades incorporates either pearl or beige as a third tone, designed not to deposit colour but to neutralise the brassiness which can occur when using home hair colourants.
All shades in the Precision Foam Colour range deliver beautiful, salon quality results. The classic shades have been designed to deliver multi-tonal colour results. The Salon Blends Collection also does this, but with the inclusion of pearl or beige the chance of brassiness can be reduced. This is especially important for women who do not have a significant amount of natural base colour e.g. women who have grey hair.
Consider the following when choosing your ideal Precision Foam Hair Colour:
First, identify your current hair colour, as that will influence your final colour result. A colour level number has been assigned to each of our shades within the John Frieda shade range. For example, a level 3 represents our deepest, darkest brown shade; a level 10 represents our lightest blonde shade. When choosing your ideal colour, it is important that you stay within two shade levels above or below your current hair colour to ensure natural-looking results. For example, if you are a level 6, light brown colour, select your colour within level 4,5,6,7 or 8.
Second, ask yourself 3 simple questions.
What is your desired Shade? Brunette, Blonde, or Red?
What is your desired intensity of colour? Do you want to be a Dark, Medium or Light Brunette?
What is your desired tone?
Do you like to see gold tones in your hair or do you prefer neutral tones? If you like golden tones, select a shade with the word ´golden´ in its description, or a “G” for Golden in the alphanumeric code, the shade 8G for example. If you prefer a Neutral tone, choose an “N”, for example shade 4N. If you want to be a redhead, choose an “R” shade, such as 6R, 5R or 4R.
Choose colours with a “G” or “BG” if your complexion is more honey or almond, you tan easily or your eyes are brown or hazel.
Choose shades with an “N”, for natural, if your complexion is pale, rosy or has an even ebony colour or your eyes are blue or green.
These are basic guidelines to achieve salon-quality colour. If you want to find out which shade our experts recommend you to choose, try out the John Frieda Shade Selector on the website. You only have to answer a few questions. There’s a perfect shade for everyone.
Hair colour can dramatically change your appearance and your skin tone can be a basis for the choice of hair colour. In general, for the most natural looking results, a hair colour should never be lighter than your skin tone. But those people with light or pale skin are in luck because any shade will fit them. People with a darker skin tone usually prefer brown or black colours. If you have a warm skin tone with yellow, golden undertones you should look for John Frieda Precision Foam Colour shades that have a “G” for Golden, an “R” for Red, a “B” for Brown, or a “BG” for Brown-Golden. If your skin has a cooler tone with pink-blue undertones look for shades with an “N” for Neutral/Natural, or an “A” for Ash.
Precision Foam Colour is the easiest way to achieve professional salon-quality hair colour results at home. The non-drip foam spreads easily into your hair, covering every strand perfectly, even the back of the head, roots and hairline. So you can achieve the same precise, flawless coverage that you thought you could only receive from a professional colourist.
Same as other permanent, oxidative colours on the market, this product provides 100% grey coverage. However, our product is different from any other. It is a completely new way to colour your hair at home. The preparation and application is much quicker and easier than what you are used to. It is very easy to spread foam into roots and hard-to-reach places, so you can be assured of achieving exact, all-over coverage you thought you could only receive from a professional colourist. Our non-drip foam has been developed with a proprietary blend of ingredients, and it comes with an easy-to-hold squeeze Foamer.
Yes you can, and it’s easier and quicker than ever. You no longer need to make many partings with complicated tools or get help from friends, while still being unsure that your hair has been covered equally from root to tip. You just apply Precision Foam Colour with your gloved hand to your roots. Because of the great distribution properties of the foam there’s no need to make that many partings. We recommend a 2-step approach to achieve flawless, salon-quality colour from root to tip. First, apply foam to the roots, a process that should take 10-20 minutes depending on the level of grey, and then apply for 10 more minutes to the lengths. Watch the detailed instructional video on our website to see how easy a “roots-first” application is.
With Precision Foam Colour mixing is very easy. Just tilt the bottle gently 5 times to mix, and you are ready to dispense foam from the bottle. If you shake the bottle, the foam will become runny. If foam becomes too runny, wait a bit before applying. You can simply create foam again by discharging a small amount 3-4 times.
Use as much foam as you can. The more foam you use, and the more you massage, the better your colour results. If you have short hair, use at least 2/3 of bottle (see dotted line on Developer 1 bottle). If you have shoulder length to long hair, use the entire bottle. Make sure to entirely cover your roots, hairline and the back of your head with foam.
If you have already applied foam to your hair, but you don’t see that much foam, apply even more and over-saturate your hair with foam. Gently massage with your fingertips. The more you massage the more foam you will create. The more foam you use, the better your colour results.
There can be different reasons for suboptimal grey coverage:
First, foam is a new way to colour hair. It is important to use as much foam as you can. Use more foam even if you feel you have applied enough. The more you massage, the more foam you will create, and the more precise your coverage will be.
Second, in some cases, grey or white hair strands are resistant to hair colour, and require a longer processing time. Just leave product on for an extra 10 minutes.
Finally, your hair should not have a heavy build-up of styling product, as this will impede proper penetration of hair colour. If your hair has build-up, shampoo one day prior to colouring.
For optimal grey coverage, choose shades that are closest to your starting colour – stay within one to two levels lighter or darker.
For the best grey coverage results, choose a neutral shade with an “N” in the alphanumerical code. If it’s the first time you colour your hair and you have many greys, our lighter colours will be more suitable for you. For the most natural results, avoid bright reds, as these might turn out too bright on your greys.
With John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Colour it will be very easy for you to achieve salon-quality colour at home. Just by massaging, the non-drip foam spreads easily into your roots and hard to reach places for exact all-over 100% grey coverage. It’s easy, but different from any hair colour you have used before. Be sure to follow the usage instructions for best results.
We recommend our nourishing after-colour conditioner to seal in your colour. With weekly use this will give you long-lasting tonal richness and keep hair soft and silky. Always try to limit frequent washings, heated styling tools and exposure to sun as this can cause colour to fade and turn brassy over time.
As part of the colouring process, the cuticle of each single hair is opened so colour pigments can penetrate into hair easily. The conditioner helps to close the cuticle again. The conditioner that comes with Precision Foam Colour has been developed to seal in your colour and protect it from fading, while keeping your hair soft and silky. It contains Babassu oil and Rice milk, ingredients that are known for moisturizing, smoothing and conditioning properties.
To avoid greenish tones, it is recommended to choose warm shades.
Within the Precision Foam Colour range, our golden shades are ideal: 8G, 7G, 6G or 5G. Don’t make a drastic change by going 3 to 4 levels darker on previously lightened hair.
Yes. Since foam spreads so easily through your hair, colouring long hair at home has become a snap. With just 80ml of mixture, you can easily create 2 liters of foam so you might not need to use 2 packages. When your long hair becomes completely over-saturated with foam, you won’t need a second package.
If applied correctly according to the instructions, Precision Foam Colour does not drip. You can always protect your clothing with a towel if you feel the need. If stains occur on face during or after colouring, wash immediately with a cotton pad soaked in soap and water. You can prevent staining by applying water resistant cream around the face and draping a towel over your shoulders.
Permanent Hair Colour is hair colour that doesn’t wash out. It stays in your hair until it has grown out. Precision Foam Colour is a premium, permanent home hair colourant. It provides 100% grey coverage, and has been designed to give you flawless, salon-quality results.
